With a full-time job and a kid under 4, I’m always focused on putting together a minimal workweek outfit that is also on-trend. Dressing minimally takes away a lot of the anxiety of piecing together complicated outfits. But I still make sure to look fashionable.
To do that, I play with textures and proportions. A chunky cropped sweater goes a long way to make this outfit current. And I love throwing on my lived-in leather jacket, which turns up the cool factor of any outfit. Lately, I’ve been really into oxfords and favor them over my heels and ballerina flats. To me, there is something so appealing in taking a menswear power symbol – the wingtip brogue, and making it part of my workweek outfit.
Later on in the season, I can easily update this outfit by throwing on a white shirt instead of a chunky sweater and still be minimally chic. The key to minimalist work outfits, to me, is to have great pieces. Pieces that are simple, but that have the right proportions and great textures.
