madewell tote hunter rain bootsDressing for wet and cold weather has usually been a challenge for me. For one thing, I resisted getting rain boots for a very long time because I didn’t find them stylish enough. Plus, I don’t like rain jackets. So, staying dry and warm is not always easy for me.

But now I have a new-found love and respect for rain boots. After I moved to New England, having rain boots became a necessity. My favorite rain-proof outfit now is a hooded field jacket (for wet spring and fall days) or a hooded wool coat for those cold and wet winter days, plus my trusty Hunter boots. I found a navy pair with a matte finish that I love. And they pair perfectly with my (somewhat water-resistant) navy hooded wool coat from J. Crew. And to keep my leather shoulder bag dry, I make sure to put it under my coat to hide it from the rain.

Where to buy guide for blush sneakers

Pink sneakers blogger style winter outfit ideaI’ve had my eye on getting a pair of pink sneakers since the spring. I saw a stylist pair a black suite jacket and baggy black pants with a pair of pale pink sneakers. I was hooked, but getting a pair proved to be difficult. No store I checked online had a pair, or at least not in the color I wanted (wanted this particular blush-pink shade), or they didn’t have them in my size, or they were out of my price range (I found a pair for $400!).

But things have improved since then. Now almost every online retailer sells pink sneakers. I was able to find the pair I’m wearing at Zara. What I particularly like about this pair, is that the sole is the same color as the upper of the sneaker. And this soft shade of pink is exactly what I was looking for. It’s neutral enough to pair with most of the colors in my closet, such as greys, blacks and any shade of jeans.

My favorite pink sneakers out there right now:

Zara (this is the exact style I’m wearing, and also on sale!); a very similar pair from Guess; an all-over pink ones like mine, but with a platform sole from ASOS and another pair from ASOS (but without a platform) here; a cute pom-pom version from Sam Edelman; some soft blush options from Steve Madden and Marc Fisher; and this really cool Adidas pair that is selling out everywhere.

A Minimal Workweek

street style chloe bagWith a full-time job and a kid under 4, I’m always focused on putting together a minimal workweek outfit that is also on-trend. Dressing minimally takes away a lot of the anxiety of piecing together complicated outfits. But I still make sure to look fashionable.

Transitional Layering

transitional weather styleLayering is my way of coping with transitional weather style. I’ve always found dressing for transitional spring weather or transitional fall weather more difficult than dressing for weather that’s definitely hot or unmistakably cold. But the one upside of transitional weather is that it lets me play with layers. And I think layers are very chic. Layered looks let me combine the same old pieces in a new way and give me a completely different look.

This casual spring look combines two of my favorite staple pieces – a leather jacket and a fur vest, that up until now I’ve always worn separately. Worn together, both pieces take on a new meaning and become almost unrecognizable. It’s a really chic way to freshen up a transitional spring look without having to buy anything new. Because why buy anything new when, less is more and minimal is chic.
