There’s something so chic about a pink coat. And I think I’m not the only one who feels that way. I see pink moto jackets, pink trench coats, pink wool winter coats and anything in between. And I want them all! Pink has almost become the new black.
I’m always looking for new ways to layer for winter. One of my new favorite style hacks is to layer on two jackets. Here I’ve taken two coats, from two different seasons, and paired them for a casual winter style. Underneath, I’m wearing a cotton army green jacket, and I’ve topped it off with a wool army green coat. It’s a more stylish version of the three-seasons-in-one jackets popular with the outdoorsy types.
I’ve had my eye on getting a pair of pink sneakers since the spring. I saw a stylist pair a black suite jacket and baggy black pants with a pair of pale pink sneakers. I was hooked, but getting a pair proved to be difficult. No store I checked online had a pair, or at least not in the color I wanted (wanted this particular blush-pink shade), or they didn’t have them in my size, or they were out of my price range (I found a pair for $400!).
I live in the Northeast, so I spend half the year in the cold. So I have a few cold weather staples that help me get though winter. A warm hat is essential. During the winter I really don’t care what my hair looks like. Keeping warm is more important to me, so I need my warm hat. I also have a selection of parkas that I’ve collected over the years: two down ones and one lined with fur (the one in this post). And mastering the art of layering is also essential.
Throwing a wool poncho over a chunky sweater is a chic way to keep warm during cold days. I’m a big fan of layering. First, you can create new looks out of things you have in your closet anyways, and second, I love to pay with textures.
